Subject Selection

Pathway Planning

At ƹϵεapp students are offered guidance in planning their education pathways. Knowing what qualifications are available and what is needed to get there is the key. Students have opportunities to gather information, discuss their options and make plans. Kaiarahi (tutor teachers), subject teachers, Kaiarataki (deans), heads of learning areas and the careers staff are involved in this important process.

There are so many career options available. Choices can be difficult to make and often change. Students may have a specific area of interest or be undecided and want to keep their options open. Planning a pathway from Year 9 to Year 13 and beyond is better than planning one year at a time, and will help students gain the most from their time at ƹϵεapp. Visit our Careers page for more information and contact details for our Careers Advisors.

All Year 9 students take English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education as part of their core programme. In addition to these, students select SIX option modules, including TWO ARTS and TWO TECHNOLOGY modules. We also have some specialist programmes that may require an additional application process.

Current Year 8 students will need to choose their preferred modules at the point of enrolment. The Year 9 Enrolment Information Booklet gives you a short description for all available modules.

When choosing Year 9 modules, it is important for students to consider what would they find interesting, what would challenge them, and what skills and knowledge they need to develop.

Students in Year 10 take the following subjects as part of their core programme: English, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Physical Education and Health. Since 2024, these curriculum areas are taught through a range of core modules, giving students additional choice within the subjects.

In addition to the core modules, students select SIX option modules.

NOTE: Module choices at both Year 9 and Year 10 may be a combination of full and half-year modules. All modules are half-year unless specified as full-year.
